Vermont Localvores

The Local Food Network

Well, it's that time of day again...1:42pm and the Pre-Teen Queen gets home in about an hour fifteen. She will be hungry, perhaps even ravenous and bitchy, thank you Hormonosaurus, as she always is. Looks like it will be a pork roast, roasted w/ garlic, sea salt, black pepper and lots of thyme, some sweet potatoes mashed w/ lots of butter, sea salt, curry (oops...) and yup, some more garlic, and either a local salad, or some more zucchini, tomatoes, onions, summer squash from the garden/farmer's market cooked in olive oil (sorry, not local...), garlic and herbs de provence, which I blended myself from local herbs and those in my garden, so I guess it's Herbs de Rutland Co. Not exactly all localvore stuff, but I'm working on it. And yes, I put garlic in everything except jello. Some things, like coffee, tea, vanilla, chocolate and spices (ya wanna see a grown woman cry and wax suicidal? Then take away these food items and watch closely.) will not ever be leaving my diet no matter how many aeons I have to do on the Seventh Level of localvore purgatorio. Not happening, sensual beast that I am. I have my requirements of life, and chocolate and berries, Lapsang Souchong and Oolong, as well as champagne and at least one serving of oysters or mussels a year or a season are all on the list, as are ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, allspice, cumin, Mexican oregano, the aforementioned Herbs de Provence...) I may even get to putting a cornbread in the oven, but considering how uh, warm this afternoon is getting, I might just bypass that and go swimming at the Dam with the Queen...we'll see.
